Neverfull bag from the "Masters" collection by Jeff Koons for Vuitton
The RMN-GP photo agency is pleased to announce a wonderful new partnership with the Maison Louis Vuitton (LVMH), as part of a creation by Jeff Koons.
The artist has selected three flagship works from our photo archive to decorate his new leatherwork collection "Masters"
The Mona Lisa, around 1505, Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), Musée du Louvre
The Tiger Hunt, around 1616 (one a of a set of four hunts painted for Maximilian of Bavaria), Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes
La Gimblette, painted
For this prestigious project, Jeff Koons required ultra-high definition captures. To obtain this level of quality, we had to redesign the natural light in the Etats du Louvre room. A cage of tracing paper was erected around the Mona Lisa to isolate it from the exterior light. The capture was taken with a digital back mounted on a Leaf Aptus II-12 back and a Mamiya 645DF camera. The result is astounding: the 80 million pixel file reveals certain details that were lost under the varnish.
The "Masters" range from Louis Vuitton confirms that, with the excellence that we set ourselves as a target, as much in terms of colour as the reproduction of the original materials, the Photographic Agency of the RMN-GP is more than ever an artistic foundation, available to our partners, particularly international artists who wish to revisit some of our masterpieces in the manner of Marcel Duchamp and Salvador Dali, to offer a new interpretation.
